Yet ANOTHER trip home brought about ANOTHER dog walk. I know, I know, how often do I go home!? This time it was for a good reason- my brother was back up to Aberdeen and since this was his first visit trip back up in over a year, it only seemed right to pack my overnight bag again and visit him and the fam.

This was somewhat hard for me to choose just one person whose wardrobe I want everything from, whose hair I dream of and make up I envy..  But one name that jumped straight to my mind and wouldn't shake out of it is Perrie Edwards. I know how shocking, Emily picked an X factor group! But whenever I see pictures of her, I just think of how amazing she looks and how much I want EVERYTHING she wears.

We all have things that work and don't work for us. What makes our skin react badly, what way to apply a certain product and what things can help the feel of your skin. !

SO this week's post for teen blog series is all about sharing some of those tips we've picked up over the years. And these are my tips on how to make your skin look good WITHOUT spending lots of money on products


Drink plenty of Water! I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of drinking water, but I have been making a concious effort to try and drink more water. It's so good for your skin; it hydrates your skin which is key for people with dry skin. It also really helps reduce dark circles under your eyes!

Get a good night's sleep! This is so so important, you'll wake up feeling so much better if you go to bed at a decent time. It helps your body and your skin, so instead of staying up watching youtube or 4od (which I am very guilty of) try turning your lights out and getting a full 8-10 hours sleep. You'll find you have so much more energy the next day too!

Be a morning person! Who else hates their alarm when it goes off and all you want to do is curl back down and sleep until you WANT to wake up? YES it's fine to let yourself just sleep in if you're needing it, but only do that every so often! It's so much better if you get up early and make the most of the day. I'm not saying the crack of dawn, but I like to be up about 8 each day and it helps me fully waken up before I start the day's work.

Eat well! Filling up on junk food and fizzy juices will do NOTHING good for your skin. Times of the year, like Christmas, when chocolates and wine are only an arms length away I notice that my skin gets worse. It's so important to try and eat healthily and get your 5-a-day, and you'll notice the difference in your skin!

Banana Skin Face Wash Scrubbing the inside of a banana peel over your face helps to remove all the dirt from the day. AND the peel will usually end up black after getting all the pollution and dirt out that is clogging up your pores. It really helps to clear up your skin and reduce spots.

It's no secret that I do love a dog walk each morning when I'm at home, and this past weekend my sister and I took Alfie to Aberdeen Beach for a run around. As horrible as the beach can be on a cold day, when you catch it just right in the morning before the sun is up, it CAN be rather pretty. And although dog walks are predominantly taken up with throwing stones so that Alf can chase them along the sand, we were able to spare a few moments and capture these snippets.

Its somewhat ironic that after I post about balancing blogging and university, my life becomes even more hectic, and I don't have the time to get my mind together let alone write a sentence.

So this post is a little catch up.. With a hot chocolate in my hand, lights out and candles lit, and Love Actually on in the background, I thought I'd take this opportunity to talk about what's been keeping me away from my computer and why I haven't had the chance to blog in over a week. And I really DO apologise for that!

After my post last Monday, my week started to revolve around uni work and going home. On Thursday night I made the three hour trip back up to Aberdeen to visit my family (yet again) and planned to upload a couple of posts when I was there. But as per usual, I ended up being more exhausted from that break than I am when I'm at uni. Dog walks, late night chats with the fam and early mornings tire me out and leave me with little energy to do anything else.

On Sunday I was then struck down with illness... Okay that may be over the top, but I contracted a 24 hour bug, exactly what I didn't need! This resulted in me being sick on the train ride back to Edinburgh that night (and I'll spare you the gross details, but lets just say I spent a lot of time apologising to the train staff and in the toilet). SO Monday resulted in me going to university with no make up on and feeling like death for the whole day.

BUT luckily I was feeling better by night time and met with my school chums and had a lovely dinner and night out with them. Let's just say that this resulted in me feeling unwell for the rest of Tuesday and NOT because of the bug. I did however manage to make it along to Zomato's Pub Quiz. Zomato is a super handy website and app that have a list of all the restaurants in Edinburgh (and many many other places) with reviews, photos and menus for them all. Although I was a little apprehensive going along when I knew no-one there, I ended up having a great time and met some really lovely people who I hope to see again soon.

While juggling these things the last few days, I've also had to try and write an essay that I left WAY too late to start in the first place, and managed to pick the most vague and confusing question ever! But with that now done and awaiting to be handed in tomorrow morning.

SO what's next?

Well, I'm getting organised! I'm going to be busy over this weekend starting some essays that are due in a few weeks but also writing posts so that a week doesn't pass without a post again. I've got a teen blog series post to catch up on, a little photo post from the beach last week, and some plans for this weekend and next week to write about too.

So I apologise again for being so inactive this last week, and I hope you can forgive me!

In all honesty, I think I'll be searching through everyone else's posts for this week of teen blog series, rather than actually giving much advice myself as this is an area that I don't have much structure or organisation in.

After doing some fashion posts for the teen blog series, and enjoying looking up different websites and picking out my favourite items, I thought I would start doing more fashion posts on my blog. And the first of which is a Wishlist of the oversized tartan scarves that seem to be in EVERY shop. They seem perfect for the colder weather that is setting in, and tartan is such a wintery look that these scarves are irresistible, and here's a list of my top 6 scarves I've spotted.

I saw Rebecca Rachel post this competition held by Banana Moon Clothing over on her blog and I thought it was something fun to enter and YOU can enter too!

It's official that summer is over, October is now here (which is just crazy!) and with that comes the start of a new university year. Having been at it for years or even just a few weeks, I'm sure you are getting the sense of which type of uni student you and the people around you are.  And Banana Moon have made a little profile of each of the different types of people you may encounter at university.

After completing my first year of uni fairly soundly, and now into my second I get the feeling I don't just fit into one category...

Sure! I'd love to say I'm the party animal, I've had more than my fair share of nights out in both Edinburgh AND Aberdeen , but when it comes to getting a good night sleep for an early lecture, I'm way too keen. So I'd hardly say I fit perfectly there..

The geek? This I'd say I fit in fairly well to.. I like to get a head start on my essay deadlines, and when it comes to tutorial work I like to have done a few of the readings at least. But am I "an expert in my field" ? FAR from it! As much as I like to show off to people who aren't on my course about what things I was learning or read, in reality I'm not at the top of the class, nor am I offering any answers during lectures.

The category which I think I fit into most would be the perfectionist. YES I like to have my notes in order, and my desk neat for when I sit down to work, but surely that's not a bad thing? Cluttered work space = cluttered mind, they say.. And yes I like to have all my work handed in a couple of hours before the deadline, otherwise that's just unnecessary stress! Thinking about it, I think this is most definitely my category!
